Coach Information:
I have a 23 year background in the combative arts, and attended my first Krav Maga class in 2005, after 10 years training in other disciplines. I took the BKMA Instructor’s cert. in 2012 and have been teaching full time ever since. This is more than a job for me, it’s a passion. In the last 5 years I have delivered around 5000 hours of training, both to civilians, high profile celebrities, and to the British Army, both in the UK and abroad, including travelling to Brunei to deliver Krav Maga training to the instructors of the Royal Gurkha Rifles.
Want to know where your Krav Maga comes from? My Krav Maga Lineage is as follows:
- Imi Lichtenfeld (Founder of Krav Maga and now deceased)
- Eyal Yanilov (Founder of Krav Maga Global and student of Imi)
- Paul Grey (Founder of British Krav Maga, certified by Eyal and Amnon in Israel. Also certified by Darren Levine in USA. Holder of multiple martial arts instructing certificates.)
- Will Bayley (Student of Paul Grey beginning 2005 and certified as a British Krav Maga instructor in 2012)
Having worked as a door supervisor and as a close protection officer, I have a deep interest not only in the physical side of use-of-force situations, but also in the mental aspects. I believe that how we think, communicate, analyse and process fear, stress and adrenal reaction are all vital to effective self protection. I have dedicated much of my adult life to studying violence and this stress reaction, and have recently released a book — Lawful Survival — which is a professional guide to facing and managing violence in today’s society. This thinking-man’s approach is reflected in my lessons, where we supplement the hard and fast training of Krav Maga with conflict management skills and adrenalised training. I believe strongly that, as an Instructor, it’s my job not only to teach you physical skills, but psychological ones too. It’s my hope that this will give you a greater and more complete grounding in the vital skill of self protection.
